Hello! I’m Anna – I’m a bit fanatical about working out. My fitness journey has run the gamut of modalities – everything from Jazzercise, to globo gyms, to running and lifting, Soflete, and presently to CrossFit. I still enjoy trying out all sorts of fitness modalities, but always find myself coming back to CrossFit. I started CrossFit at the beginning of 2021 and loved it so much, that I wanted to learn more and completed my Level 1 Trainer course in October of 2021.

After years of being a CrossFit naysayer, I finally decided to give it a shot, and honestly, it’s become an integral part of my life. CrossFit has been more than just a gym – it’s a community who has taught me a lot of the skills not just for working out, but also a lot of mental resiliency, which is critical in both my military and personal life. The staff, trainers and owner have all coached me through achieving new things that I never thought I would be able to. It’s also a quantifiable way to measure various forms of fitness and that’s something I was never able to really do with my previous fitness pursuits.

We have a saying in the military – “embracing the suck.” It simply equates to shared suffering and somehow through that shared suffering, we overcome limitations and forge some incredible bonds. I cannot think of a better translation of this concept elsewhere, than at CrossFit Salem. Best of all, it’s an uplifting and encouraging environment to do it in. We all have to “embrace the suck” in different areas of our life – CrossFit Salem gives us some tools to do so. We have people from all ages, backgrounds, fitness levels and some of the best stories of overcoming than I could imagine. Real growth happens when we try. Ten stars, DEFINITELY recommend!
